We are very excited to announce the first 2021 offering of Advanced Wilderness Life Support! This fast paced and challenging course is deigned for medical professionals who wish to begin to scratch the surface of practicing medicine in austere environments.
Nestled in the Sierra Nevada Mountains at 6,000 feet, Lake Tahoe offers a spectacular alpine setting for outdoor recreation. The course will be hosted at the beautiful North Tahoe Event Center in Kings Beach, CA.
Located on the magnificent Central California Coast high above the Pacific Ocean, Big Sur is a quaint and sparsely populated area where the Santa Lucia Mountains rise abruptly from the sea. Offering some of the most stunning coastal scenery in the world, this is one of the unspoiled treasures of California.
The AWLS program focuses on treatment of the most common injuries and illnesses encountered in the wilderness and uses a combination of lectures, practical skills training, and treatment of mock victims to reinforce the student’s wilderness medicine skills
Earn Continuing Education Credit
The AWLS course is approved for up to 20.5 hours of continuing education credits through the Wilderness Medical Society. Credits earned also apply toward the Fellow in the Academy of Wilderness Medicine (FAWM)
