Big Sur is one of the unspoiled treasures of California. Located on the magnificent Central California Coast high above the Pacific Ocean, Big Sur is the quaint and sparsely populated area where the Santa Lucia Mountains rise abruptly from the sea. The coastline offers some of the most resplendent views in the state.
Our AWLS curriculum is a mix of didactic and hands-on wilderness medicine training, building the skills to handle a variety of emergencies in austere environments. Our curriculum is developed specifically for medical professionals, guaranteeing a high-caliber level of wilderness medical instruction. Students will bolster their pre-existing medical knowledge with the latest techniques in patient assessment, treatment, and evacuation from remote, wilderness areas.
With the Advanced Wilderness Life Support certification students earn 20.5 hours of Category 1 CME, as well as Wilderness Medical Society Fellowship credit.
