Come take your AWLS course in the beautiful Southwest! While Phoenix, AZ is known for the heat, the average high temperature in November is a beautiful 76 degrees F and is perfect for exploring the many outdoor adventures the Valley of Sun has to offer. The course itself will be hosted at the North Mountain Visitors Center, allowing for a mix of expert-driven didactic lectures as well as truly immersive austere practical skill lessons throughout the desert preserve.

The AWLS Hybrid curriculum consists of:

Following completion of Online Modules to cover the didactic portion of the AWLS curriculum, students will meet in person for the practical skills component. Following an opportunity to review questions from the modules, we will dive into practical skills and wilderness victim scenarios. This means the two days of the live course will be spent almost entirely outside doing hands-on practical skills.
With the Advanced Wilderness Life Support certification students earn 24.5 hours of Category 1 CME, as well as Wilderness Medical Society Fellowship credit. Please note that the CME credit hours differ for traditional in person courses and hybrid courses.
