Join Blue Ridge Adventure Medicine, in Roanoke, VA for an exciting weekend of AWLS. So named for their blueish hue when viewed from a distance, the Blue Ridge Mountain Range stretches from Pennsylvania to Georgia as part of the greater Appalachian Mountain Range. The range will play host to a varied curriculum and expert instruction in Advanced Wilderness Life Support.
The classroom portions of the course will take place at the Carilion Clinic Campus, at the base of Mill Mountain adjacent to the Roanoke Rivercon, currently with a Virginia Tech – Carilion student wilderness medicine elective.
Ample opportunities to enjoy the outdoors will be provided.
Our AWLS curriculum is a mix of didactic and hands-on wilderness medicine training, building the skills to handle a variety of emergencies in austere environments. Our curriculum is developed specifically for medical professionals, guaranteeing a high-caliber level of wilderness medical instruction. Students will bolster their pre-existing medical knowledge with the latest techniques in patient assessment, treatment, and evacuation from remote, wilderness areas.
With the Advanced Wilderness Life Support certification students earn 20.5 hours of Category 1 CME, as well as Wilderness Medical Society Fellowship credit.
